This shows the left side of the deacon's seat as it was prior to be being rescued. On the right, it's pretty easy to discern the three new logs.
When the weather warmed sufficiently that liquids wouldn't freeze, all the new logs and lumber were slathered liberaly with a fresh coat of stain, along with the rest of the lean-to.
Mother Nature isn't kind to lean-tos. She throws everything she has at them, rain, ice, scorching sun, and months of deep snow.
With luck, the new logs will last as long as the originals did. That way our kids, or even their kids, can get out there and replace them when the time comes!
